Xander to the Rescue!
Unsung Heroes
Firemen, paramedics, ER staff, & police - we are quite familiar with emergency first responders. Their heroics are often featured in the news, and whole TV shows are based on their day-to-day rescues (think NBC's Chicago Fire, P.D. & Med). But another group of first responders rarely gets noticed nor appreciated - particularly those that are on the front lines of rescuing kids that have been abused or abandoned. Xander Bunnies are helping to celebrate these unsung heroes.
Rescue - a Messy Business
Often accompanied by a police officer, a protective child worker may need to forcefully remove a child (and children, at times) from a home. The child is then in what some call “free fall”, a time in which care-givers scramble to find a safe & stable environment/home in which to be placed. On average a child is in “free fall” for 17 hours and seemingly has everything ripped from them, responding naturally with anger, fear, insomnia and/or overwhelming sadness.
By being able to give a Xander Bunny during a time when so much is taken, those on the front lines of rescue can reinforce that they are there to help, that the child is loved, and that the child is not alone
Xanders Partner with Rescuers
Our goal at Lavender Life Company is to get a Xander Bunny into the hands of every child in foster care, especially during these tumultuous hours of “free fall”. For every Xander Bunny purchased, we donate one to a child in foster care. These incredibly soft, warmable lavender-filled bunnies help reduce anxiety, induce sleep, are naturally calming, and accompany the child through any of their transitions, for it is theirs. By being able to give a Xander Bunny during a time when so much is taken, those on the front lines of rescue can reinforce that they are there to help, that the child IS loved, and that the child is NOT alone. Last week 40 Xander Bunnies were very well received at the Kent County, MI DHHS (Department of Health & Human Services). We received a note that seven bunnies were placed into kids hands that day, and that the workers were so encouraged to have them to give. In neighboring Ottawa County, foster moms are excitedly reporting that kids are showing up with Xander Bunnies in tow.
Buy a Bunny - Encourage an Unsung Hero
We are mindful of our customers/friends, of children in trauma, and of the unsung heroes on the front lines of rescue. We at Lavender Life Company are being bold to think in time, that we will be able to place a Xander Bunny into the hands of all 437 thousand children in foster care, and by doing so, also encourage a group of under-appreciated individuals that serve sacrificially. Will you help us?
